The driver simply did not want to wait. I am also in the process of gathering information on a law that would give Judges discretion to enhance the civil penalty imposed on drivers who injure "vulnerable users" in Florida. At this time, they may only receive a citation or a small fine. I would be very interested in knowing from those who have experienced such a horrific tragedy whether the driver at fault received only a simple moving violation (which is very common) and if there was any public outcry about the lack of suitable consequences for the devastating loss caused by the driver's negligence.
